Tata Motors today announced an interim panel headed by Chairman Cyrus P Mistry to oversee operations of the company following the sudden demise of Managing Director Karl Slym.
The panel will include members of the company's executive committee, the company said in a statement. Mistry will also chair new product design and engineering review meetings.
"To ensure leadership continuity, the board of Tata Motors has constituted a corporate steering committee to oversee strategy execution and key aspects of operations," Mistry said.
The board expects to appoint a managing director in due course, he added.
Members of the company's executive committee are Ravindra Pisharody, Satish B. Borwankar, C Ramakrishnan, Dr T A Leverton, Ranjit Yadav, Mamillapalle Venkatram, Ankush Arora and Rajesh Bagga.
Stating that he was "deeply saddened" by Slym's demise, Mistry said: "We will ensure that the company vigorously pursues and delivers on the strategy which had already been defined and which Karl was executing."
Slym died last month after a fall from a multi-storied five-star hotel in Bangkok.
"As the company looks ahead, it is gratifying to note that several new product launches have taken place recently and a robust pipeline is being showcased at this year's Auto Expo. I am confident that Tata Motors will sustain its strong leadership in the Indian automobile industry," he added.
