As per new arrangement, the company said, police personnel will accompany the raiding team and arrest the "guilty" on the spot and complete the other legal formalities the same day.
Earlier, the company had to file a complaint with the police following which an FIR used to be lodged against the accused based on which arrests were made.
Two persons were arrested on the spot today in Wazirpur village for alleged involvement in power theft. The enforcement team also caught a power thief running an electrical equipment manufacturing unit during the raid, the company said.
The accused has been sent to judicial custody. The illegal connected load was found to be to the tune of 62 KW and the theft assessment amounted to over Rs 30 lakh.
In another case, proprietor of a hospital was arrested for theft of electricity to the tune of 46.5KW and an FIR has been lodged against him, the company said in a release.
"Power theft is like cancer and it cripples the power sector and results in huge losses. We are determined to put a stop to this menace in our distribution network with these special drives," said a Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited spokesperson.
The special drive will cover Rani Bagh, Subash Place, Maurya Enclave, Shalimar Bagh, Bharat Nagar, Ashok Vihar, Adarsh Nagar, Jahangir Puri, Mahindra Park, Bhalswa Dairy, Model Town, Mukherjee Nagar and Swaroop Nagar in North and North West Delhi.
