The role of Shweta, who has represented the country in golf tournaments in Nepal, Pakistan and Malaysia, is to promote sports at the Tata Power Group of Companies, said a media release from India's largest integrated power company here today.
"The objective of this association is to co-fund sports infrastructure and institutions, while supporting individual sportspeople. Through this initiative, Tata Power aims to support budding women sportspersons to pursue their dreams and also promote sports as a culture amongst the Company's employees," the release said.
She started playing golf at the young age of 14, and for the Indian Women's amateur golf circuit one year later.
She graduated in psychology from the University of Missouri, St Louis (UMSL) in the USA in May, 2013.

While at university, she played golf for the UMSL ladies golf team where she was the first lady golfer from UMSL to make it to the NCAA National Golf Tournament (2010, 2011 and 2013), the release said.
"We are proud to be associated with such an accomplished sportsperson and will support Ms. Galande in her efforts to succeed against tough competition," he added.
