Twenty six match officials, including umpires and referees at this season's Indian Premier League will be taking part in a two-day workshop, conducted by Simon Taufel and organised by the BCCI, here on April 4 and 5.
A wide range of topics from clothing regulations to on-field player behaviour and the overall playing conditions, would be covered during the workshop.
Taufel, a former member of the ICC Elite Umpire Panel and five-time winner of the ICC Umpire of the Year Award, is presently the ICC's Umpire Performance and Training Manager.
The workshop, now in its third year, is an ongoing initiative as part of the BCCI match officials development programme, said a Indian Cricket Board release.
A total of 26 match officials, 13 Indian umpires and four match referees would be officiating this season in the IPL, which is set to commence on April 8 and conclude on May 24.
With 60 matches scheduled, the T20 tournament would provide "a wonderful opportunity for the top Indian match officials, and this workshop will prepare them ahead for what promises to be yet another exciting edition of the IPL," the release said.
Taufel would travel with the match officials team during the initial part of the tournament to the various venues, the release added.
