Police today claimed to have busted a tax-evasion racket, which was allegedly running in connivance with sales tax officials in Punjab's Sangrur district.
Acting on a tip-off, police seized 20 tonnes of iron pipes from a trailer bearing fake number plates at Ghaggar rivulet bridge.
The vehicle was en route Salemgarh via Patran to avoid Moonak sales tax barrier for entering Haryana, police said.
The trailer driver, identified as Gurnam Singh, was arrested along with his accomplice Jagroop Singh, they said.
