A taxi driver was shot dead on Monday morning allegedly by some unidentified people in Aliha village in Bisanda area, police said.
Rajiv Gupta (32) had come to the village from Lucknow with lawyer Gajraj Singh, who had to attend a cremation, they said.
He was sleeping in the lawyer's house when some people shot him, they added.
The police suspect that it was a case of mistaken identity and the accused had another target.
A probe was on in the matter and no arrests had been made so far, they said.
