India's largest IT services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) today said it has partnered with Cornell Tech to collaborate on technology research and expand K-12 digital literacy programmes in New York City.
As part of the new partnership, Cornell Tech has set up Tata Innovation Centre on its campus following a USD 50 million investment from TCS, a statement said.
The centre, formerly known as The Bridge, brings academia and industry together under one roof to share ideas and research on next-generation digital technologies and commercialise new areas of collaboration.
"The centre will drive new applied research between TCS and Cornell Tech in the fields of human-computer interaction and cyber security, benefiting both US businesses and local communities," Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran said.
Martha E Pollack, Cornell University President, said the centre will become a hub for New York's tech sector and a global icon for how academia and industry can collaborate to leverage technology for the greater good.
TCS will become one of the tenants at the Tata Innovation Centre, the statement said.

Besides, TCS and Cornell Tech will also promote the integration of computational expertise in K-12 public education, starting with engagement in New York City School Districts 2 and 30.
This multi-year community engagement effort aims to build digital fluency and computational acumen among students, educators and schools with a special focus on girls, minorities and the underserved, the statement said.
TCS will leverage Cornell Tech's academic expertise to design education programmes to introduce students to new digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain and Cybersecurity.
