Tata Sons Chairman Cyrus Mistry, TCS CEO N Chandrasekharan and Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao today laid the foundation stone of the centre that will come up on 60,000 sq ft area.
"It is good to see two leaders in their fields - TCS and IIIT - Hyderabad taking an initiative in this area and together create a legacy of Mr Kohli, the father of Indian IT industry," Mistry said in his address.
"The new KCIS will conduct high impact research in intelligent systems, a critical area for carrying out sustainable innovation in topics like natural language processing, robotics and cognitive sciences," he said.
Apart from high quality research, KCIS will focus on entrepreneurship promotion in the intelligent systems area, as startup companies are the best means to transform research in academic labs for the benefit of society at large, a TCS statement said.
