The Tea Board has decided to rent out five floors of its head office in the central business district here for commercial use, its deputy chairman and CEO Arun Kumar Ray said on Tuesday.

"We have decided to rent out floors of the head office. Already, one floor has bee occupied by MPEDA and the Spices Board. One private bank has shown interest for space along with a few commercial entities," Ray told PTI.

The landmark head office is located at Dalhousie area of the city, and the building has nine floors. Two of them would be reserved for the board room and chambers of the chairman and deputy chairman.

Ray said that the employee strength of the Tea Board at present was 328 across all its offices.

"The Tea Board will have to prove its requirement before the industry and all the stakeholders. Our working needs to change and have to serve the industry better," he added.
