Appreciating the extension of 24x7 customs clearance facility to 13 more airports and 14 seaports, Tirupur Exporters' Association (TEA) today said it fulfils a long-standing need and would help knitwear exporters enhance competitiveness in global markets.
TEA President A Shaktivel described the Centre's decision as a New Year bonanza and said it clearly indicates that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very keen to address the bottlenecks in the growth of exports and reduce transaction cost, mainly to save time and money.
The 13 airports include Chennai and Coimbatore while the seaports include Chennai, Tuticorin and Cochin, Shaktivel added.
