TEA urges Irani to announce guidelines for special package
Press Trust of India Coimbatore Tirupur Exporters' Association (TEA) today requested new union textile minister Smriti Irani to announce the guidelines and procedures to follow the recently announced special package for the garment sector.
In a congratulatory letter to her on assuming office, TEA president A Shaktivel requested her to look into the package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
TEA also sent a congratulatory letter to Ajay Tamta, who has taken over as minister of state for textiles, he said.
In the letter, Shaktivel said Irani's latent talent, coupled with grasping the issues expediently would certainly help address the issues and to come out with new strategies for the growth of the textile industry, which provides more employment next to Agriculture in the country.
He requested her to announce the guidelines and procedures at the earliest, as exporters were confident of fulfilling the aim of Prime Minister to reach the envisaged export target of USD 30 billion from USD 17 billion in next three years and also to provide employment to 1 crore people, mainly to women workers.
