A teacher, who has been accused of beating up a Class 5 student of a government school at Kairkhedi village here, was today transferred after local women locked up the school in protest against the incident.
The student, Amrita, was badly beaten up by her teacher Surendra for not solving a maths problem on Saturday. She was later admitted to a hospital with bruised legs.
Today, local women gathered at the school and locked the entrance demanding his transfer. On hearing about it, block education officer Balbir Singh reached the spot and agreed to the demand to end the impasse.
Surendra apologised to the parents of the student and was transferred to Jiwanpur school.
