Teacher held for misbehaving with girl student

A teacher of a private school in Vanasthalipuram area here was taken into custody today for allegedly misbehaving with a girl student even as locals held a protest at the educational institute, police said.
Hemanth Kumar, who teaches Physics, allegedly misbehaved with the class VIII student on the premises of the school a couple of days ago, following which she informed the matter to her parents who in turn lodged a complaint with police, they said.
"Following the complaint, a case was registered under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of IPC and other relevant provisions of POCSO Act against Kumar and he was taken into custody," said Assistant Commissioner of Police (Vanasthalipuram Division) B Bhasker.

Earlier, some locals and relatives of the girl held a protest at the school premises demanding stern action against the teacher. They created ruckus by breaking the glass panel of the notice board there and throwing flower pots.
