The accused, working at a local private college as chemistry teacher, had molested the minor student inside the institute premises, according to the police.
District police chief Raman Kumar Meena told reporters that the the accused teacher has been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The accused has also been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act) as the victim is a minor, Meena said.
Alleging deterioration in the law and order situation in the town, they also demanded that adequate security be provided to girls.
The district police chief said the police was probing the case. The statement of the victim would be recorded and challan filed in the court within a month, he said.
