Members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) today began an indefinite blockade of the Imphal-Moreh road here in protest against the alleged failure of the police to arrest the killers of school teacher T Haokip, police officials said.
JAC convenor Mangboi Haokip claimed that two individuals of Aimol Satu village in Chandel district were involved in the murder of the 48-year-old teacher earlier this week.
The Committee is also demanding proper compensation to the family of the deceased and a government job to kin of the victim.
Names of the suspect were revealed by the wife of the victim before he succumbed to his injuries at his home, a police officer said.
A senior police officer had on Monday said the teacher was allegedly assaulted by suspected NSCN(IM) cadres on Sunday and he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
The slain teacher belonged to the Kuki community which formed the JAC to get justice for the victim.
Meanwhile, militant outfit United Kuki Liberation Front, currently in peace negotiation with the Centre, in a press statement today dismissed NSCN (IM)'s claim that it was not involved in the incident and accused the Naga outfit of trying to mislead the government and the public.
