Teacher-turned-filmmaker living his passion for making films

A 50-year-old Ladakhi teacher, Chetan Angchok, got so fascinated with camera that he decided to turn director.
It was at a teachers workshop at a local school here when Chetan got fascinated with the use of camera after he saw a person recording the session.
"I had no knowledge about films and how to make films. But the way camera was used I was keen on trying my hands," Chetan told PTI.
It was his 1988 play titled "Chespay Khachat" that Chetan turned it into a feature film following an overwhelming response from people here.
"The play got good response so I made it into a feature film and added some commercial aspects like song and dance," he said.
Chetan is still teaching at a local school here as a primary teacher but during December to February he gets busy with churning out features, shorts and documentaries.

His latest, a short film, is titled "Wangmo" and deals with the issue of child labor.
Chetan is presently writing a show for the local Doordarshan channel called 'Tamad Kundan' and one of his sons will be acting in it too.
He says Ladakh International Film Festival has proved beneficial for budding filmmakers like him by giving them exposure.
Chetan says he looks upto filmmakers like Vishal Bharadwaj, Shyam Benegal and Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra.
