Teachers of private and government universities and colleges in Punjab and Union Territory of Chandigarh today boycotted work and took out rallies demanding setting up of a pay review committee by the UGC for them.

An education bandh call was yesterday given by the All-India Federation of University and College Teachers' Organisations (AIFUCTO) and endorsed by PFUCTO.
Singh said 20 teachers from Punjab and Chandigarh today joined a day-long fast at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
The protesters took out rallies in Chandigarh, Patiala, Bhatinda, Muktsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar.
A rally was held at the Panjab University here. The protesting teachers demanded immediate appointment of the UGC pay review committee under the Seventh Pay Commission.
