The team-bonding and strategising camp for the eight teams in the fray for the fifth edition of the Louis Philippe Cup golf tournament has begun with all the players expressing their happiness at the opportunity.
"In an individual sport like golf, such camps are rare affairs. It is a lovely atmosphere here and we have been to relax and bond with team members in preparation for the tournament," said Laqshya Mumbai's Mukesh Kumar.
The camp ahead of the Rs 1.2 crore prize money league format tournament was held at Zion Hills, about 90 kilometers from here.
NSports Hyderabad's Gaganjeet Bhullar said that the camp has helped players understand each other better so that they could compete better as a team.
"Earlier, even though we shared friendly relations with each other at the end of the day we were still competitors. Now we are like a team so are getting to learn about the other. We are even helping each other to rectify shortcomings while at the same time honing our strengths," said Gaganjeet.
Jaypee Greater Noida's Shamim Khan said that their team had already formulated their strategy for the LP Cup after spending two days together.
"This is amazing as we have already understood our strengths and weaknesses. We even know which player is the best for which situation. It is going to help us a great deal when the tournament gets under way," he said.
The tournament starts on June 1 and the final will be held on June 4.
