A team from Delhi has left for Uttarakhand to render assistance to tourists from Maharashtra stranded there due to heavy landslides triggered by incessant rainfall.
The state government has directed its top bureaucrat in Delhi to get information on the whereabouts of these tourists, an official said here today.
Accordingly, a team led by the additional resident commissioner at Delhi, has left for Dehradun, he said.
A helpline has been started in Mantralaya, he said.
The state government has asked people and travel agencies to coordinate before hand with concerned district disaster management authorities before planning a trip to that state, the official said.
Normal life has been paralysed by continuous rains in Dehradun and other places like Rishikesh, Haridwar, Haldwani and Udham Singh Nagar towns.
Those stranded include tourists and pilgrims on their way to Chardham Yatra.
