The team headed by Revenue Secretary D S Garbyal will stay in Gairsain for three days and examine the suitability of the six sites recommended for the purpose by Uttarakhand Assembly Deputy Speaker A P Maikhuri and Congress MP Satpal Maharaj, official sources said here today.
The parameters for assessing the suitability of these plots for the purpose will be connectivity and availability of water in the area, they said.
The suggested sites for the purpose are 54 hectares of land at Bhararisain, two hectares of land at Marora, 1.97 hectares at Saliyan, 8.947 hectares at Rithia, 2.256 hectares at Silinga Nagarjunsain and 9.40 hectares at Hargarh near Gairsain.
As per an announcement made by Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna last month, the foundation stone for a Vidhan Bhawan at Gairsain will be laid on January 14, 2013.
Striking an emotional chord with the people in the hill region, Bahuguna had announced that a Vidhan Bhawan will be built at Gairsain where one session of the state assembly will be held every year.
Gairsain is an emotive issue for the people of the state as a large section of those who fought for statehood to Uttarakhand wanted it to be declared as the permanent capital of the hill state.
