A four-member team of the Gujarat health department today visited the Sadhu Vasvani hospital here after twelve persons complained of loss of vision in one eye after cataract surgery.
The hospital is run by a charitable trust.
The team comprised Dr Jignesh Gosai, Dr Sanali Shah, Dr Mitesh Patel and Dr Rupal Bhatt, all ophthalmologists from Ahmedabad civil hospital.
"We have met all the affected patients who are complaining of vision loss in the operated eye and also inspected the operation theatre," said Dr Gosai.
"We have collected medicine samples from the operation theatre which would be sent to a laboratory for testing along with the the equipment used in the operation," he said.
"There could be many reasons for vision loss and the exact reasons in these cases could be ascertained only after complete investigation," he said.
The team would submit its report to the state health ministry, Gosai added.
