Teams start reaching Guwahati and Shillong for SAG

The squads of the participating countries have started reaching Guwahati and Shillong for the 12th South Asian Games, to be held from February 5.
Some members of Nepal's swimming team arrived in Guwahati, while the first batch of the Pakistani contingent is scheduled to reach here tomorrow, a communication said.
People's interest on the Pakistani contingent will be primarily on its hockey team which will be taking on India on February 8 at the Moullana Md. Tayebullah Hockey Stadium, Bhetapara, Guwahati, it said.
The Pakistani contingent would also feature the country's top women tennis star Sara Mansoor and Sarah Mehboob Khan.

Meanwhile, the Indian Football team and the Triathlon team are also practising in Guwahati, the release said.
The 12th South Asian Games is the first international multi-sporting mega event in the North Eastern region where athletes from eight member countries - Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka - will be participating.
Around 4500 athletes and sports officials from 8 nations will participate in the biggest ever sporting spectacle in North East India, the communication added.
