A Class-IX girl allegedly committed suicide after her repeated complaints of teasing against a boy went unheeded.
Police said family members of Pinky (14), a student of Sandhya Public School here, found her hanged from the ceiling fan of her room yesterday night.
In a suicide note found in her school bag, she has held a teacher and the school principal responsible for her suicide.
According to Mahamandir police station SHO Indra Singh, Pinky was annoyed with constant teasing by a student. "She had complained to his behaviour to a teacher and the principal, but none of them paid any head to her complaint," said Singh.
Two days ago, she reportedly beat up the boy for teasing her, but both the teacher and the principal found fault with her. Since then, she did not go back to the school and asked her parents to get her admitted to another school, according to the suicide note.
"Her father had gone to the school to obtain the transfer certificate but was assured by the school authorities that it would not happen again... Depressed with the thought that she would have to study in the same school, she took this extreme step," the SHO said.
Her uncle Madan Prajapat alleged that the school administration was responsible for her suicide. "She was being teased since long but the teachers did not take action against the student despite her complaints and scolded her instead," said Prajapat.
The police officer said the teacher and the principal were being interrogated and investigators were also talking to other staff members and students. "We have started a probe and will take appropriate action based upon that," said Singh.
