Santosh Kumar Gupta, a software professional working in Bengaluru, was arrested by Pune district police on charges of conspiracy and murder of 23-year-old Antara Das.
Das was allegedly attacked by an unidentified person with a sharp-edged weapon near Kanbay chowk in Talawade in the outskirts on December 23 night, barely 500 m from her workplace.
"We sought two-day additional police custody of Gupta, however, court remanded him in judicial custody and sent him to jail," said a police officer.
After the arrest, police, while seeking Gupta's custody had told the court that the accused, who was stalking and harassing Antara, had hatched a conspiracy with the attacker to kill her after she rejected his proposal.
