T Kiran (28), working as Assistant Executive Engineer in ONGC Mumbai and drawing a salary of Rs 80,000 was nabbed from Solapur in Maharashtra yesterday and brought to Hyderabad, they said.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) A Venkateshwar Rao, on September 1 Kiran came to Harley Davidson showroom in Banjara Hills on the pretext of buying the Street 750 model costing Rs 6 lakh, and after filling the proforma, took a test-drive.
"The accused instead of going on regular test drive route suddenly took another route even as one showroom employee who was following him with another bike could not catch him," the DCP said.
The accused sneaked out of Hyderabad city by filling the tank at a petrol bunk and escaped towards Mumbai through Sadashivapet in neighbouring Medak district.
Banjara Hills Police had formed special teams to nab the accused.
