The father of the 23-year-old software professional from Andhra Pradesh, who was robbed and killed in the city in January last year, today completed his deposition before the court.
"The father today deposed before the sessions court. He was the one who had lodged the FIR after his daughter went missing," said the defence lawyer Prakash Salsingikar.
Mumbai police's crime branch arrested Chandraban Sanap, the accused, nearly two months after the murder of the woman who was employed with IT major TCS in suburban Goregaon.
The girl had gone missing from the Lokmanya Tilak terminus in suburban Kurla after arrival from her native place.
According to the police, Sanap spotted the young woman sitting alone at the railway station and offered to drop her at Andheri in western Mumbai where she lived.
He persuaded her to ride pillion on his motorcycle and strangulated her at an isolated spot when she resisted his attempt to rob her. Police later claimed they suspected that the victim was raped too.
Her decomposed body was found off the Eastern Express Highway in suburban Bhandup.
