Technology centre to be inaugurated in Bhubaneswar tomorrow

A Secondary Data Centre of National Data Repository (NDR) and Software Technology Parks of India-ELITE is all set to be launched here tomorrow that will act as a boon for researchers and companies.

The centre is slated to be inaugurated by Union Petroleum and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Union Electronics and IT and Law and Justice Minister Ravi Sankar Prasad will also be present.

This was announced by senior officials of STPI and Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) at a press meet here yesterday.

The centre, first of its kind in eastern India and third in the country, would help students of geology and researchers, Manas Ranjan Panda, Jurisdictional Director (Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand), STPI, Shiladitya Bhattacharjee, General Manager (HR), DGH and H K Patra, Consultant (NDR) said.

The Union government had on June 28, 2017 started functioning of Integrated Centralised Data Repository to promote and preserve the data regarding exploration and production of petroleum products in India.

The Secondary Data Centre (SDC) to be operational at STPI in Bhubaneswar will be operated under Primary Data Centres Disaster Recovery Centre at Noida, New Delhi.

Students of geology, researchers, academicians and companies will be able to conduct data analytics and research based on data available at the centre on exploration and production of petroleum products in India, they said.

The STPI, has three fully operational centres at Bhubaneswar, Rourkela and Berhampur in Odisha and five more such centres will come up at Balasore, Angul, Jajpur, Koraput (Jeypore) and Sambalpur.

STPI ELITE is an additional facility established in Bhubaneswar to further facilitate the IT/ITES industry and boost IT exports.
