Teenage boy drowns in J-K

A 17-year-old boy today drowned while a teenage girl was rescued after they accidentally fell into a stream in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Naseer Ahmed and Rukhsana Kouser (15) were going to school. On the way, they slipped from a ridge in the Budnar area of Mahore and fell into the stream, a police official said.
A police team and local residents rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.
"The boy could not be saved whereas the girl was taken out of the water," he said.
The girl has been admitted to sub-division hospital in Mahore where her condition is stated to be stable, the official said.

He said the body of the boy will be handed over to his family after conducting all legal and medical formalities.
A case has been registered, the official said.
