Teenage girl dies in road accident

A 17-year-old girl has died while a man was injured when their two-wheeler hit a stationary bus in East Delhi, police said today.
According to police, the incident occurred yesterday when the two-wheeler, on which the deceased was riding pillion, hit a stationary bus at Pandav Nagar here.
The deceased has been identified as Kusum Jha, who hailed from Bihar and used to live with her relatives in Mandawali here while the injured has been identified as Raju, 26, who was driving the two-wheeler.
A police team was at the spot as a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus had rammed into a cluster bus when the accident took place near Akshardham Temple, it said.
"A two-wheeler coming from Nizamuddin side rammed into the cluster bus. Raju was driving the moped while Kusum was the pillion rider," a police officer said, adding that both of them were rushed to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where Kusum was declared brought dead by the doctors.
Police said that they were yet to establish the sequence of events which led to the accident as Raju has not been declared fit for statement by the doctors.
A case of rash driving and causing death by negligence has been registered at the Pandav Nagar police station.
