Teenage girl raped in Jammu; accused arrested

Police has arrested a man for allegedly raping a teenager in outskirts of Jammu, the winter capital of the state.
Kapoor Raj, a resident of Phalain Mandaal here, was arrested yesterday after the parents of the girl had lodged a complaint against him at Police Station Jhajar Kotli that their daughter was raped by Kapoor on October 19 when she was alone at home, a police officer said today.
Kapoor had gone to his relatives house at Jhajar Kotli on October 19 where he found the girl alone.
He allegedly raped the girl and escaped from the spot after threatening her of dire consequences if she revealed the incident to any one, police said.

When the family members of the girl returned home, she narrated the incident to them and they lodged a complaint against the accused, they said.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, the accused was arrested from Jammu yesterday, he said.
Medical examination of the girl was conducted and the report is awaited, the officer said, adding, further investigation into the case is going on.
