A 19-year-old man was arrested today for allegedly marrying a 15-year-old girl in West Bengal and confining her to his residence in a Mumbai suburb, the police said.
The accused are identified as Sajid Shaikh (19), the girl's uncle Tomer shaikh (40) and her father-in-law Mustafa Shaikh (65), a police official said.
The girl was allegedly confined in Behramnagar residence of her 'husband' Sajjad, he said.
The incident came to light on August 22 after the girl fled from the house and spotted by a crime branch officer, he said.
An offence was registered at Nirmalnagar police station in the city on her complaint.
The victim told the police that she was married off forcibly with Sajjad by her uncle in Malda district, according to the official.
