The Anti-Doping Appeals Panel (ADAP) of NADA today upheld a one-year ban sentence imposed on Haryana's minor volleyball player Ayush but the teenager will now be back in action having served the duration.
The young spiker was sentenced to a one-year ban by NADA's Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel (ADDP) on August 28 last year but he was provisionally suspended on May 5, 2017.
The Haryana boy, who is still a minor, had tested positive for Methandienone in an 'Out Of Competition' (OOC) testing by NADA.
The ADDP panel took three months to give its verdict and since the boy was a minor, he was handed a suspension of one year. Ayush had then appealed for revocation of suspension and the ADAP has given its verdict, exactly 11 months after the ADDP ruling. Ayush is still below 18 years of age.
"The ADAP has upheld the one-year suspension of Ayush handed by ADDP. Since his suspension starts from the back date, May 5, 2017, he has now served entire duration of his ban. He will be allowed to get back to competitive volleyball," a NADA source told PTI today.
