Teenager commits suicide in Kanpur

The deceased had passed her Class XII exams with 89% and was preparing for competitive examination

A 17-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan in Barra area here, police said today.

The deceased identified as Akansha Singh had passed her Class XII exams with a decent 89% and was preparing for competitive examination.

Last evening, she allegedly hanged herself when her family had gone to attend a wedding ceremony. When the deceased's brother Anurag, returned home he found the door locked from inside, they said.

After he managed to enter their house through the neighbour's roof, he found Akansha's body hanging from a ceiling fan, added police.

Meanwhile, in another incident 45-year-old Alpana allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the railing of the stair-case of her house in Kidwainagar area here.

According to her husband Rakesh Srivastava, she was depressed due to the unfortunate death of their son last year due to illness, police said.

The bodies have been sent for the post-mortem in both the cases and further investigations are on, they said.
