The incident was reported from Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in east Delhi's Jagatpuri at around 2:30 PM and the deceased has been identified as Mansi Pawar, daughter of an MCD sweeper.
She had not attended classes for the past few days and when she reached school this morning, her class teacher called her mother.
"The teacher informed the girl's mother that she had not attended the classes for some days. Angry at her daughter's act, the mother allegedly slapped and rebuked her," a senior police official said.
After the school time was over, the official said, the girl allegedly went to a vacant classroom and allegedly hanged herself using crape bandage.
Police was informed and Mansi was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead, he said.
It appears that girl took the extreme step as she felt humiliated at she being slapped by her mother in front of her teacher. PTI SJY
