Teenager murdered after rape

A teenage girl was killed by an unidentified person after allegedly raping her at Haladiapadar under Golanthara police station limits in Ganjam district on the wee hours of today, police said.
Police recovered the body of the 16-year-old girl from near her house in the village, about 18 km from here.
"The body has been sent for post-mortem," said sub divisional police officer, Berhampur Sadar, Harihara Pani.
Forensic teams and sniffer dogs have been pressed in the investigation, but no arrests have been made so far.
"We have got several clues about the accused and he will be nabbed very soon. It seems the accused was from the same locality," said the SDPO.

The police said the victim and one of her cousin sisters were sleeping at their aunt's house due to lack of electricity at her home in the village. The family members found her body lying near the house, police said adding the father of the deceased, a daily labourer, has lodged an FIR.
