Teenager raped by daily-wage worker

A teenage girl was allegedly raped by a daily wage worker while she was returning home from school through a forest area near Koila, following which he has been arrested, police said today.
The incident took place at around 1 PM on June 20 and the man was arrested yesterday, police said.
The 30-year-old identified as Shekar K, followed the girl along the three km-stretch in the forest area, dragged her into the woods and allegedly raped her, they said.
Superintendent of Police S D Sharanappa said the girl went to Kadaba police station with her parents and filed a complaint after the incident following which he was arrested, they said.

Police said the man had admitted that he had followed the girl on earlier occasions too.
He has been booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
