The accused was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board yesterday who granted him bail, they said.
According to police, the 16-year-old boy, a resident of Faridabad district and presently residing in a slum dwelling at Bhiwadi, had allegedly stolen Rs 70,000 from the pocket of one Kamal Deep, who was travelling with him in an autorickshaw at Dharuhera on March 26.
Kamal Deep, a resident of above Faridabad district, was going to a town in Rajasthan to purchase a she-buffalo. He boarded an autorickshaw at Bhiwadi town of Alwar district in Rajasthan which lies close to Dharuhera, for Dharuhera, they said.
When Kamal Deep got off at Dharuhera, he found his money missing from his pocket and suspected that the teenager who had just got down there and was walking ahead of him had stolen the money, police said.
Yesterday, Kamal caught him at Dharuhera and recovered the stolen amount, and handed him over to the police, they said, adding a case of theft was registered against the teenager.
