The condition of the teenager, admitted at the Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine (CSTM) with Japanese Encephalitis, has slightly improved but not stable, a senior health official said today.
"The teenager's condition has slightly improved but yet not stable," West Bengal Health Services Director Biswaranjan Satpathy told PTI.
The 16-year-old boy from Uchhepota village in the Sonarpur police station area of South 24-Parganas district was taken to the CSTM on Saturday last after his condition deteriorated at a local hospital.
About the woman, a suspected JE patient admitted at the CMRI hospital, Satpathy said "We are still waiting for the blood test report of the woman. But going by the symptoms of the patient, we don't think it's a case of JE."
In the last 24 hours, three new cases of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) from separate districts of north Bengal have been reported, he said.
"Three cases of AES have been reported in the last 24 hours. Two are from Jalpaiguri district and one is from Uttar Dinajpur," Satpathy added.
