Tehsildar held for accepting bribe of Rs 2 lakh

A Tehsildar was arrested in Kurnool district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a complainant in exchange of official favour, ACB said today.
D Venkatesh Naik was caught red-handed at his residence yesterday when he was accepting Rs 2 lakh for issuing pass-books pertaining to the land owned by the complainant, a release issued by the Anti-Corruption Bureau said.
Naik is being produced before a court for ACB cases at Kurnool.
In a separate incident in Medak district, a sub-inspector of police, identified as I Murahari, attached to Begumpet police station, was trapped by the ACB sleuths when he was accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a complainant to "settle" a dispute.
Murahari tried to flee from the scene of offence after receiving the bribe, however, he was chased and taken into custody by ACB sleuths, the release added.
