Modi conveyed wishes to Rao for successful conclusion of the mega religious ritual that drew to a close on December 27, the state government said here today.
"Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes for the success of Ayutha Chandi Maha Yagam and expressed hope that this thoughtful initiative will foster spiritual welfare of all souls by spreading the message of 'lok kalyan' (people's welfare) and vishwa shanti (global peace)," said a release from Rao's office.
The event which involved non-stop chanting of mantras on all days besides devotional programmes, including bhajans and 'harikatha' (recital of religious stories), was attended by several dignitaries and spiritual leaders.
The stated objective of the ceremony was to promote universal peace and people's welfare.
Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah, his Maharashtra counterpart C Vidyasagar Rao, Union Ministers M Venkaiah Naidu and Bandaru Dattatreya, NCP President Sharad Pawar, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu were among the prominent personalities who visited the Yagam.
