Telangana Govt may increase Endowment Department budget

Telangana Government is thinking of enhancing budget allocation for the Endowment Department to improve maintenance of temples and ensure welfare of priests, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao today said.
He made the announcement while speaking at a gathering at a state-level convention of Hindu priests (Archaka Samakhya Sadassu) organised at Hanamkonda near here. Rao also inaugurated the meet.
All communities are equal for the Government, Rao said and added that his Government will build Telangana Brahmmana Parishad Bhavan (a community centre for Brahmins) in Hyderabad at a cost of Rs 10 crore.
Rao, who is on a tour of the district, assured more sops for the priests by the end of February.
Earlier, the Chief Minister visited slums at Deenadayal Nagar and Pragathinagar and interacted with residents. He said the slum-dwellers will be given house site 'pattas' (ownership documents) on Sunday.
Rao also visited Ambedkar Nagar and Jitender Nagar under Hanamkonda (Warangal West) constituency with local MLA Dasyam Vinaya Bhaskar and Warangal MP Kadiyam Srihari. He sat on floor with slum-dwellers and assured them that the TRS Government will fulfil all its pre-election promises.
He visited Bhoopalapally constituency, represented by Telangana Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary.
The Chief Minister held a meeting with officials and reviewed development projects in Bhoopalapally. He announced allocation of Rs 75 crore for construction of roads, bus stations, bridges and drains in the town.
