The issue of carving out a separate Telangana state out of Andhra Pradesh could have been solved by seeking "greater consensus" on the issue, Human Resource Development Minister M M Pallam Raju said today.
"It is commendable that the Congress party has tried to solve a long standing dispute. But I feel it should have been done with a greater consensus which is why we have problems in the Rayalseema and Andhra region. I hope a proper solution would be formed," Raju told PTI.
However, he did not elaborate how the "greater consensus" could have been achieved.
When asked about his stand over the issue when the bill is expected to be tabled in the Parliament in the winter session, Raju refused to say much.
Earlier, the HRD Minister had offered to resign expressing displeasure over the Congress decision to carve out a separate Telangana state, but was dissuaded from doing so.
