Telangana leader A Revanth Reddy, who resigned from Telugu Desam Party last week, today joined the Congress in the presence of party vice president Rahul Gandhi.
Reddy joined along with several of his supporters, including some former legislators from the state. He also resigned as a legislator from Kodangal constituency in the state.
Gandhi welcomed Reddy into the party fold and offered him some sweets. "We wish him all the success!," the party said on its Twitter handle.
Reddy was arrested in the "cash-for-vote" case after he was caught on camera allegedly offering money to a nominated MLA for his vote in the MLC election in 2015.
He had quit TDP on October 28 amid reports claiming that he had met Gandhi and was about to join the Congress.
Reddy, who was TDP's state working president and floor leader in the Telangana assembly, had caused a stir by accusing some leaders of Andhra Pradesh TDP, including two ministers, of securing huge financial contracts from the TRS government in Telangana.

AICC secretary incharge for Telangana R C Khuntia and Telangana Congress chief N Uttam Reddy were present when the announcement was made at the party headquarters here today.
Khuntia said that Reddy had joined the Congress not for any gains as the party was neither in power in Telangana nor in Andhra Pradesh.
Uttam Reddy said Congress is the only alternative party and Rahul Gandhi the alternative leader.
Revanth Reddy later lamented that the state government had not prepared a list of those who gave their lives in the 'Telangana Andolan' for giving compensation to their families, and to those youths whose studies suffered.
Telangana, he said, is a state which has the second- highest farmer suicides after Maharashtra and the government of Telangana has not done anything in this regard.
