The software called 'Veryfast' which was designed for passport verification by the police has been successfully tested and deployed in Hyderabad as well as Cyberabad Commissionerate limits here, it said.
The Telangana Police chief reviewed the software in a meeting through video conference with all District Superintendents of Police and Special Branch officials, down to head constables, the release said.
The Ministry of External Affairs has engaged Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to modernise passport administration but had not included a police verification module in the passport portal.
To scale up this application across Telangana state, the DGP reviewed district police officers and said that training would be imparted in two phases to officers on the use of 'Veryfast' application on tablets.

The first batch of training would be held at Warangal district shortly covering the districts of Adilabad, Khammam and Karimngar, while training officers from rest of the districts would be at Hyderabad, the release said.
After training, tablets would be given to all stakeholders to make passport verification more efficient, transparent and accountable.
Earlier citizens ran around designated officers and had to pay Rs 3,000 after applying for passports under the Tatkal scheme, but now they could get passports in lesser time by paying Rs 1,000 after the new application has been adopted, it added.
