Telangana police dept gets additional 565 vehicles

Telangana Home Minister Nayini Narsimha Reddy flagged off a fleet of 565 vehicles for the police department here today.
The new vehicles would enable the department to provide individual vehicles to every police station in the state.
Speaking after the event, Reddy said, "Police station, which is the cornerstone of criminal justice system, would now be able to respond more quickly and adequately to any situation warranting their attention and intervention. If law and order is under control then there will be development."
As part of its commitment to make police more responsive, professional and mobile and to attend to problems of the citizens, the state government had sanctioned 600 vehicles for the department.

This is the third large-scale addition to the state police mobile fleet after the state's creation and assuming of office by the government.
The first fleet of the police patrolling vehicles (SUVs and motorcycles) for Police Commissionerate of Hyderabad and Cyberabad was launched by state chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on August 14, 2014.
With a view to respond quickly to any law and order contingencies, especially in the event of armed attacks, the Telangana Police on September 26 last year launched the fleet of 'Interceptor Vehicles for Armed Intervention'.
Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali, state Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Sharma were among those who spoke.
