Telangana pursues case of student shot dead in US city

The Telangana government today requested the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs to pursue the matter of the student who shot dead in Florida, with the Indian consulate there.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao issued a statement expressing his condolences saying that the state has lost one of its bright students.
"The Telangana Chief Minister's Office has initiated steps to establish contact with the Indian consulate in Florida, Secretary Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India as well as the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, in an effort to bring back Sai Kiran's body to Hyderabad.
"The Chief Secretary of Telangana has requested the Indian consulate to take steps to transport his body from Florida at the earliest. He also requested the Union Ministry of External Affairs and the Union Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs to pursue the matter with the Indian consulate," the statement said.
The 23-year-old student from Hyderabad was shot dead by unidentified men who tried to rob him in the US city of Miami in Florida.
He was allegedly shot by unidentified men after he refused to hand over his mobile phone to them, his relative said.
