Telangana road users asked to observe "Accident Free Day"

About 20 people die in 60 road accidents in Telangana every day, police said today and appealed to citizens to follow traffic rules and take precautions to avoid mishaps.
Police asked road users in the state to observe "Accident Free Day" tomorrow by following traffic rules and taking all precautions to avoid mishaps.
"Road safety has become a matter of serious concern as India is losing 1,50,000 precious human lives every year. In Telangana, we are losing 7,000 precious human lives every year. Every day, about 20 persons die in 60 road accidents in Telangana," a release from DGP office said.
Pedestrians and two-wheelers account for 50 per cent of total deaths. Similarly, it is found that 50 per cent of the total deaths are in the age group of 18-35 years, police said, citing national accident data.
