"The party is totally committed for Telangana state and first decision of the NDA, if voted to power, would be carving out of Telangana region as a separate state," Shahnawaz told reporters here, before leaving for Parkal Assembly constituency in Warangal district to participate in elections campaign.
Alleging that some political parties have been playing with the sentiments of Telangana people, Shahnawaz said they (people) have now identified the parties who have been deceiving them in the name of separate state and they have full faith in BJP.
"Our party leaders have raised the issue of Telangana state in Parliament, but Congress MPs and its leaders have no time to discuss the issue. Whenever they visit the state, they keep talking about separate statehood for Telangana just to deceive the people," he said.
Separate state for Telangana region would have been created during the NDA regime itself, had the TDP, which extended support to NDA government, not opposed it.
On Parkal Assembly seat, which is going for bypoll on June 12, the BJP leader expressed hope that the party would win the seat.
To another query, Shahnawaz said that Parkal by-election would be like an "energy capsule".
State party official spokesperson NVSS Prabhakar and minority morcha chief Haneef Ali were also present at the press conference.
