Telangana supporters today took exception to Andhra Pradesh Government giving its nod for holding of a public meeting by pro-united Andhra activists here on September 7.
"The Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) had applied for permission for its proposed event 10 days ago. They (government) did not give permission to us but to 'Save Andhra Pradesh' meeting. We protest this," said a leader of the pro-Telangana employees union.
State Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy, who hails from Telangana, said no untoward incidents should take place and that all need to observe restraint.
The Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers' Association (APNGOA) was granted a conditional permission to hold its meeting from 2 pm to 5 pm on September 7 and government employees from Seemandhra region would be allowed for the meeting only after showing their identity cards, since outsiders would not be permitted to attend the meeting, police said today.
