Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today asked the Centre to first specify why it plans to hold an all-party meet again on the contentious Telangana statehood issue.
Reacting to Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde's statement that he plans to hold an all-party meet soon on the Telangana statehood issue, TDP spokesman Payyavula Keshav wanted to know the "purpose" of the proposed meeting.
"It is ostensibly to cover up procedural mistakes of the Centre in the state bifurcation process that the all-party meet is being planned. Let the Centre spell out the purpose. We will then discuss it in the party and decide whether or not to attend," Keshav told reporters hours after Shinde's statement.
Meanwhile, TDP leaders from the Telangana region dubbed the proposed all-party meeting as a "drama".
"It is only to further delay the creation of Telangana," senior TDP leader Motkupalli Narasimhulu alleged.
As TRS is not ready to merge with Congress, the Centre is delaying the formation of Telangana, he said.
